About me
Listening to a constituent at one of my Meet & Greet sessions in Cheddington
I’m Laura Kyrke-Smith and I’m proud to serve as your MP for Aylesbury and the villages.
I am grateful to you for the trust you placed in me when I was elected in July 2024. For as long as I hold this role, I will stand up and deliver for Aylesbury and the villages to the very best of my abilities.
Prior to my election, I had a career in government, in the private sector and in the charity sector. As a charity leader, I campaigned on behalf of people caught up in conflict and crisis around the world and helped to get them the support they deserve. I continue to campaign for an active role for the UK in humanitarian crises around the world, from Gaza to Sudan.
As your MP, I’m committed to delivering change here in Aylesbury and the villages. I’m always out and about meeting as many residents, community groups, charities and businesses as possible, to listen to your concerns and priorities.
I am working on the issues that matter to Aylesbury constituency residents – from improving local infrastructure to improving GP appointment access, and getting better support for children with special educational needs and disabilities.
I currently serve as a Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government. In this role, I am working to support the Secretary of State Steve Reed MP to deliver on plans to increase housing supply; deliver supporting infrastructure; reform planning processes; and create thriving sustainable communities.
I am actively campaigning for improved perinatal mental health provision, an issue that is personal to me. In February 2025 I spoke in Parliament about one of my best friends Sophie, who in 2021 died due to suicide shortly after giving birth, to highlight the urgent need for better support for mothers. Since then, I have continued to press for specialist perinatal services to be expanded and for mental health checks to be built into routine maternity care.
I am committed to being an active, visible and responsive constituency MP across Aylesbury and the villages. The best way to reach me is on laura.kyrkesmith.mp@parliament.uk. You can also sign up to my E-newsletter mailing list here to keep up to date with my work. I am here to serve you.

“Every day, in this place of power, we all make choices. I will know if I have made the right choices if people in crisis around the world and, most importantly, people struggling in my constituency tell me that I have played my part in making a positive difference to their lives.”
